Custom Made Jewellery. What got me started?
While I loved working for larger jewellery houses, I think what I love most about what I do now is that I can help a broader range of people given that most of my work is custom made.
Contrary to popular belief customers in larger branded companies were polite, interested in design and understanding of the long wait times for orders or repairs that had to be completed in either France or Italy. Something that sometimes say slightly unwell with me was the (understandably) rigid approach to customisation. Sitting with customers discussing design, stories and ideas was always interesting but working for these companies we had to bring the customers attention back to the funnel that would eventually lead them to buying a readymade product.
Products at Cartier and Bulgari were all exceptional with attention to detail and design but I would always think about how nice it would be to be able to work together with a customer, gem dealers and jewellers and make them a bespoke fine jewel that tells their own story. While a lot of customers were brand focussed there was no shortage creative customers who had their own ideas and strong stories.
So, in 2016 I set out and started my own business with the purpose of sourcing gems and making jewels that poses singularity that tell the a story and style of the wearer.
The job is my passion and while it can sometimes get complicated trying to juggle accounts, design, production, social media, website and inquiries all myself, not a day goes by that I don’t love my decision to break out of the norm and help a larger amount of creative people. My business is my creative and professional voice. This voice might not manage to respond your enquiries immediately and may not be able to consistently update my website but this voice is honest, educated and passionate when it comes to gems and jewels. I love all my customers and people I work with and how we help each other grow.
